March 2011:Following the refurbishment of Penmarric, Ancona and Welsummer VisitBritain has now upgraded all of our cottages to 4-star in our most recent annual assessment in March.
February 2011:The refurbishment of Welsummer is now complete and we will publish new photographs as soon as possible.
January 2011:The refurbishment of Welsummer is now well under way and will be completed by the end of the month. The new fireplace was opened up earlier today and together with all of the other improvements will result in one of our highest specification cottages on completion.
Winter 2010:We have recently completed the refurbishment of Ancona which now sleeps 6 people in comfort with a brand new large kitchen, separate living room with a wood-burning stove set into a large traditional 18th century stone fireplace with a natural oak surround. The new bathroom includes a thermostatic shower, glass shower screen and underfloor heating for your comfort.
Autumn 2010: Penmarric is now available for holidays. A comprehensive refurbishment includes new slate floors throughout, a new fully fitted kitchen, a new bathroom with underfloor heating and the addition of a wood-burning stove. Penmarric is the perfect romantic escape for two whilst enjoying all of the facilities at Higher Bamham including the 12m heated indoor swimming pool.
Spring 2010: Following the winter refurbishment of all of our two bedroom cottages, they (together with Orpington) have all been upgraded to 4 star in our annual VisitBritain quality assessment. Tamara, Morwenna, Trelawney, Dunheved and Oprington are now all VisitBritain 4 star rated. Welsummer and Ancona are 3 star rated.
Winter 2009/2010: All of our two bedroom cottages have been completely refurbished over the winter with the following improvements: new kitchens, new fully tiled bathrooms (including underfloor heating, heated towel rails, illuminated vanity mirrors, glass shower screens and Mira thermostatic shower mixers), new flooring throughout and the addition of wood burning stoves to create a lovely warm cosy environment throughout the year. New pictures of the cottages will be posted on the website as soon as possible. We are also able to supply bio-logs for the wood burning stoves. These are more efficient than conventional logs (higher heat output by weight and more cost effective), easier to light, less ash waste. They are also more environmentally friendly as they are 100% waste sawdust from the timber industry.
June 2009: We are proud to have been awarded the Green Tourist Business Scheme SILVER level in recognition of the progress that we have made in the last 12 months to ensure that we provide our guests with a sustainable tourism experience. Our programme of improvement of our environmental performance will continue whilst improving the holiday experience for all of our guests.
Spring 2009: Our new Play Barn / Games Room / Laundry complex is now open for the 2009 season.
January 2009: During our busy winter we have made the following improvements for the benefit of all of our guests:
All holiday prices now include all electricity and heating (all of the electricity meters have been removed from the cottages)
All holidays now include bed linen and towels and all beds will be made for you before you arrive with our new bed linen, duvets, pillows and luxurious cushions. There are no additional charges for hire of bed linen and towels.
Free unlimited use wi-fi wireless 8MB broadband access is now available in all cottages
Summer 2008: Since acquiring Bamham Farm in July 2008, we are pleased to announce that:
Our large 12m indoor heated swimming pool is now open every day of the year.
We now welcome pets (subject to acceptance of the pet booking terms). For the benefit of guests with allergies Dunheved and Orpington are maintained as pet free cottages.
